Brisbane Manchester United Supporters Club provided a bit of Christmas cheer to the local community and they had a heap of fun doing it.
BMUSC’s annual five-a-side cup saw the club raise $3500 for Mater Little Miracles Foundation.
Held at Mitchelton Football Club last month, the club’s now-annual event proved a massive hit yet again with team and player registrations up.
Teams played for the BMUSC cup, while a consolation shield was also up for grabs for teams who did not make it past the group stage.
The shield was aptly named the Eric Djemba-Djemba shield.
Club members recruited heavily to get their best mates involved and in the end the club even attracted supporters of other English clubs, desperate to take the glory from the United-supporting teams.
Wahsy’s Boys took out the cup in a thrilling final.
BMUSC president Keith White thanked Mitchelton Football Club for its support of the event and allowing the club to use its grounds as well as providing footballs for the tournament.
White said the tournament continued the club’s tradition of putting on strong community events in support of charity, as it did in Sydney in 2013 prior to the Manchester United vs A-League All Stars exhibition match.
