What a day to be a United fan!
Manchester United had Anthony Martial and David de Gea to thank on a fine Saturday afternoon at Wembley, as they defeated Everton 2-1 to book their spot in the FA Cup final.
De Gea saved a Romelu Lukaku penalty after Marouane Fellaini put United 1-0 up in the first half, but not before Chris Smalling inadvertently scored an own-goal to level the scores up.
Those events left it to young Anthony Martial to prove match-winner once again.
Manager Louis van Gaal lead the praise for his team, but was unhappy with the refereeing in the game – which he credited for allowing Everton to gain the
ascendency in the second half.
Meanwhile, Tim Fosu-Mensah thanked De Gea for saving Lukaku’s penalty, which he gave away when he slid in on Ross Barkley in the box.
Michael Carrick said a win in the FA Cup would make United’s season a successful one.
